Anastasios Orfanidis
Engineer. Educator. Builder.
I believe in craft, curiosity, and not pretending broken things are fine.
Craft
I have built production software across AI, biotech, health tech, defence, and civic technology. Every domain is different. Every system fails the same way. People stop caring about how things work, and the whole thing rots from the inside.
Slack time is where real engineering happens. Not the sprint. Not the standup. The time you spend understanding why a system behaves the way it does. That is the craft. AI writes code. It does not ask why.
These are not company values on a wall. They are what survived every project, every team, every failure.

EkoHacks
In 2025, while the industry was sprinting towards AI, I went to Lagos and built an XP team. A software craftsmanship dojo in a place most people in tech never think about.
Grounded in Paulo Freire's pedagogy. Developers learn by building real products together.
- TDD from day one
- Pair programming on every feature
- Daily code reviews
Compassionate coaching. Drawing out understanding rather than imposing it. A "no mouse" culture so every developer experiences accessibility firsthand. Nullable Infrastructure across every project. Zero mocking frameworks.
Impact
The same principles that build good software can build a local economy. AURIO is a worker cooperative model in rural Greece. Silk sourced directly from artisans. Revenue stays where it is made.
Same principles. Everything I do.
Whether it is code, a workshop, or a political platform. Humility, ownership, and curiosity do not change depending on the project.
Available for engineering, consulting, workshops, and building things that matter.
